caspofungin

Overview

Caspofungin is an echinocandin antifungal that inhibits beta-1,3-glucan synthesis, disrupting fungal cell wall integrity. In the context of this knowledge base, it was used as a pharmacological probe for the cell wall integrity (CWI) pathway in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae model studying oncogenic RHOA mutations.

Evidence in the corpus

  • No differential caspofungin sensitivity (50–200 ng/mL) was detected across the four oncogenic RHOA mutants (R5Q, G17V, C16R, A161P), indicating the cell wall integrity pathway is not broadly activated by these mutants in yeast PMID:24816253.
