octreotide
Overview
Octreotide is a synthetic somatostatin analog that binds somatostatin receptors (primarily SSTR2 and SSTR5), inhibiting hormonal secretion and tumor proliferation. It is used for symptom control and antiproliferative therapy in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
Evidence in the corpus
- High SSTR2 expression (often with SSTR1/3/4/5) identified by WGTA (POG program) supported somatostatin-analog therapy (octreotide/lanreotide) in metastatic NEN patients PN5, PN7, PN10, PN23, PN28; PN23 had a 1972-day duration on octreotide/lanreotide PMID:24326773
