ATF1

Overview

ATF1 (Activating Transcription Factor 1) is a member of the CREB/ATF family of basic leucine zipper transcription factors. In cancer genomics, ATF1 is most notable as a fusion partner with EWSR1, forming the EWSR1-ATF1 fusion oncoprotein characteristic of clear cell sarcoma and related tumors. The EWSR1-ATF1 fusion disrupts normal transcriptional programs and has diagnostic and therapeutic implications in rare malignancies.
