BBC3
Overview
BBC3 (also known as PUMA, p53 upregulated modulator of apoptosis) encodes a pro-apoptotic BH3-only protein in the BCL-2 family. It is a key mediator of p53-dependent and p53-independent apoptosis. In EBV-associated cancers, viral microRNAs inhibit BBC3/PUMA to evade apoptosis.
