COL1A2
Overview
COL1A2 encodes the pro-alpha2 chain of type I collagen, a major structural component of the extracellular matrix. In cancer, COL1A2 is a marker of desmoplastic stroma and CAF activation.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- Expression positively correlated with stromal SEMA7A in GBC tissues, implicating it in the desmoplastic CAF activation program driven by matrix stiffness PMID:24997986
Cancer types (linked)
- GBC: COL1A2 co-expressed with SEMA7A in the desmoplastic stroma of gallbladder cancer; part of the fibrillar collagen signature of activated CAFs PMID:24997986
