COL4A1
Overview
COL4A1 encodes the alpha1 chain of type IV collagen, a major component of basement membranes. In cancer, COL4A1 is expressed in desmoplastic stroma and activated CAFs.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- Expression positively correlated with stromal SEMA7A in GBC tissues; also listed as a CAF activation marker upregulated under 16 kPa high-stiffness matrix in primary gallbladder fibroblasts PMID:24997986
Cancer types (linked)
- GBC: COL4A1 co-upregulated with ACTA2, CCN2, COL1A1, and FN1 in gallbladder fibroblasts activated by high-stiffness substrate; expression correlated with stromal SEMA7A in the 86-patient cohort PMID:24997986
