CTNND1

Overview

CTNND1 encodes p120-catenin (delta-1-catenin), a member of the Armadillo repeat protein family that stabilizes cadherin complexes at adherens junctions and regulates cell–cell adhesion and motility. Germline variants have been proposed as a predisposition gene for early-onset gastric cancer in familial non-hereditary gastric cancer (FNHGC) contexts.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • Newly proposed germline predisposition gene for early-onset gastric cancer (Herrera-Pariente et al. 2024); disrupts cell–cell interactions, potentiates motility and metastasis; candidate explanation for a subset of FNHGC PMID:24816255
