FAP

Overview

FAP (Fibroblast Activation Protein Alpha) encodes a serine protease expressed on activated stromal fibroblasts and mesenchymal cells. In cancer, FAP is a marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), where its expression is associated with immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments and resistance to immune checkpoint blockade.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • Mesenchymal-transition transcript up-regulated in anti-PD-1 non-responding pretreatment melanoma tumors; co-enriched within the IPRES (innate anti-PD-1 resistance) transcriptional signature alongside AXL, ROR2, WNT5A, LOXL2, TWIST2, and TAGLN PMID:26997480
