KIF5B
Overview
KIF5B (Kinesin Family Member 5B) encodes a kinesin motor protein involved in intracellular transport. In lung cancer, KIF5B is best known as the 5’ partner in the KIF5B-MET fusion gene, an oncogenic fusion detected in lung adenocarcinoma. KIF5B-MET leads to constitutive MET kinase activation and is a potential therapeutic target for MET inhibitors.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- KIF5B-MET fusion detected in lung ADC (previously reported fusion); identified as part of the novel MET fusion landscape in the TCGA pan-lung cancer cohort alongside a novel MET-CAPZA2 fusion PMID:27158780
