PDGFA
Overview
PDGFA (Platelet Derived Growth Factor Subunit A) encodes a ligand for the PDGF receptor tyrosine kinases. It was identified as a recurrently amplified locus in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma by GISTIC analysis.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PAAD), PDGFA (7p22.3) was identified as a recurrently amplified locus by GISTIC analysis in the 109-case microdissected whole-exome sequencing cohort. PMID:25855536
Cancer types (linked)
- PAAD: recurrent focal amplification identified by GISTIC. PMID:25855536
Co-occurrence and mutual exclusivity
- No specific co-occurrence or mutual exclusivity patterns reported in the corpus.
Therapeutic relevance
- PDGF-receptor pathway inhibitors (e.g., PDGFR family inhibitors) are among FDA-targetable alterations noted in HCC (PDGFR family ~3% of cases) in related corpus papers.
Open questions
- Functional significance of PDGFA amplification in PAAD as a driver vs. bystander event remains to be validated.
