PRKCB
Overview
PRKCB (Protein Kinase C Beta) encodes a serine/threonine kinase involved in signal transduction downstream of antigen receptors and growth factors. In cancer genomics, it is a direct transcriptional target of the EWS::FLI1 fusion oncogene in Ewing sarcoma and has been validated as a Ewing sarcoma dependency.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- Strongly induced novel direct EWS::FLI1 target in heMSCs (EWS::FLI1 binds intron 7); knockdown via EWS::FLI1 siRNA abolishes induction; reaffirmed as a Ewing sarcoma dependency consistent with Surdez et al. PMID:25186949
Cancer types (linked)
- Ewing sarcoma: direct EWS::FLI1 transcriptional target; validated dependency PMID:25186949
Co-occurrence and mutual exclusivity
Therapeutic relevance
- PRKCB is a Ewing sarcoma-restricted dependency; proposed as a potential therapeutic target PMID:25186949
