PRKD1
Overview
PRKD1 (protein kinase D1) encodes a serine/threonine kinase involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. It is activated by diacylglycerol and plays roles in vesicle trafficking, cell motility, and angiogenesis. In cancer, PRKD1 is a recurrent somatic mutation in adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC), shared between salivary gland and breast subtypes.
Alterations observed in the corpus
- Non-passenger somatic mutation in breast adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC); also recurrent in salivary gland AdCCs, suggesting a shared driver alteration across anatomical sites. PMID:26095796
- Recurrent somatic mutation in 2/25 ACC tumors; part of the axon-guidance pathway alteration cluster in this cohort PMID:26862087
- POC5-PRKD1 is a novel fusion identified in polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma of the tongue within a pan-cancer metastatic cohort (MET500, n=500) PMID:28783718
