WNK1

Overview

WNK1 (with-no-lysine kinase 1) is a serine-threonine kinase involved in ion transport regulation and cell signaling. In the TCGA pan-cancer fusion landscape, WNK1 is involved in recurrent WNK-family gene fusions. ERC1-WNK1 has been independently reported in a Chinese esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cohort, and WNK-family fusions are associated with elevated WNK mRNA without copy-number amplification.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • Identified in WNK-family fusions across 23 samples in the TCGA pan-cancer RNA-seq landscape; WNK fusions are associated with higher WNK mRNA without copy-number amplification. ERC1-WNK1 was independently validated in a Chinese ESCC cohort PMID:29617662
