CITED1

Overview

CITED1 (Cbp/p300-interacting transactivator with Glu/Asp-rich carboxy-terminal domain 1) is a transcriptional co-activator that interacts with CBP/p300. It is best characterized in melanocyte differentiation and thyroid cancer biology, but has been identified as a recurrent gene fusion partner in rare sarcomas.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • Novel fusion partner: CIC-CITED1 fusion identified in an undifferentiated high-grade sarcoma case in the MET500 metastatic pan-cancer cohort PMID:28783718.

Open questions

  • The functional consequences of CIC-CITED1 fusion on transcriptional regulation and tumor behavior remain to be characterized.
