FGF4

Overview

FGF4 (Fibroblast Growth Factor 4) is a mitogenic growth factor involved in cell proliferation and survival. In HCC, FGF4 is co-amplified with FGF3, FGF19, and CCND1 at the 11q13.3 locus, a focal amplification independently associated with poor survival.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • Co-amplified at 11q13.3 locus with FGF3, FGF19, and CCND1 in ~6% of HCC; focal amplification appears at advanced stages and is independently associated with poor survival PMID:25822088

Cancer types (linked)

  • HCC: 11q13.3 co-amplification (~6% frequency) appears at advanced stages and is independently associated with poor survival in a large HCC cohort PMID:25822088

Co-occurrence and mutual exclusivity

Therapeutic relevance

  • FGF3/4/19 co-amplification nominates FGFR inhibitors as therapeutic candidates in HCC PMID:25822088

Open questions
