RYBP

Overview

RYBP (RING1 and YY1 Binding Protein) encodes a component of the Polycomb repressive complex 1 (PRC1), involved in epigenetic transcriptional repression. Located at 3p14, RYBP is a candidate tumor suppressor in prostate cancer where deletion of this locus is recurrently observed.

  • Co-deleted with FOXP1 and SHQ1 in a focal 3p13 deletion identified by aCGH and low-pass WGS of FFPE prostatectomy needle biopsies (prad_mskcc_2014 proof-of-principle). PMID:25024180
  • Part of 3p21 focal heterozygous deletion (co-deleted with SHQ1 and FOXP1) in MSK-PCa1 and MSK-PCa7 prostate cancer cell lines PMID:25201530
  • Part of the complex 3p13 deletion locus involving FOXP1/RYBP/SHQ1 in primary prostate cancer PMID:26544944

Therapeutic relevance
