Affymetrix U133 Plus 2.0 Array
Overview
The Affymetrix GeneChip Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array is a microarray platform covering approximately 47,000 transcripts and variants including 38,500 well-characterized human genes. It is widely used for genome-wide gene expression profiling in cancer research and clinical studies.
Used by
- Applied in ICGC PedBrain pilocytic astrocytoma study for gene expression profiling of 118 pilocytic astrocytomas (including 66 from the WGS cohort) versus 158 other astrocytic tumors; revealed significantly elevated FGF2 and PTPN11 (SHP-2) expression in pilocytic astrocytoma regardless of FGFR1 status PMID:23817572
- Used for gene-expression profiling (HU133+ 2.0) in MCL; expression data deposited as GEO GSE36000; NSD2-mutated MCL showed overexpression of NSD2 gain-of-function signatures by GSEA PMID:24145436
- Microarray platform used for gene expression profiling in a subset of TCGA glioma samples as part of the pan-glioma multi-platform integration PMID:26824661
- Affymetrix U133 Plus 2.0 array used for transcriptomic profiling of 37 fresh-frozen advanced thyroid tumors (17 PDTC + 20 ATC); expression data deposited under GEO accession GSE76039. BRS and TDS scores computed from this array data. PMID:26878173
Notes
- Corpus-grown slug; not found in cBioPortal canonical gene panel ontology.
- Superseded in most research settings by RNA-seq but remains a reference platform for historical datasets and cross-study comparisons.
