IRF1

Overview

IRF1 is an interferon regulatory transcription factor central to Th1/IFNγ signaling. In the corpus it is a component of the 20-gene Immunologic Constant of Rejection (ICR) immune signature.

Alterations observed in the corpus

  • No somatic alteration claims; IRF1 is used as an expression component of the ICR immune-classification signature PMID:37202560.

Cancer types (linked)

  • COAD — IRF1 expression contributes to the ICR signature that outperforms CMS and MSI classifications for prognosis in primary colon cancer (n=348) PMID:37202560.

Co-occurrence and mutual exclusivity

Therapeutic relevance

  • ICR-high status (including IRF1) correlates with immunotherapy response in other tumor types referenced by the authors; not directly tested in colon cancer PMID:37202560.

Open questions

  • Whether IRF1 expression alone adds prognostic value beyond the composite ICR signature is not addressed PMID:37202560.
